The Manifesto
The beauty industry spent decades building cover-ups for women with textured hair.
Then it made you feel like you needed them.
We built the truth.
et cetera beauty is the first haircare system built from the ground up around the real biology of textured hair — and the first to go somewhere this industry has never gone.
They never had the answers. They had the marketing.
The legacy beauty industry's chemists had no cultural fluency, no professional experience with textured hair, and no framework for understanding what coily, kinky, or tightly-coiled strands actually need. They formulated for straight and wavy hair, relabeled the results, and called it progress. When the products failed, they didn't go back to the lab. They sold cover-ups — and kept the revenue from the damage. Weaves. Wigs. Extensions. Braids. Sew-ins. A billion-dollar business model built not on solutions — but on the problem they refused to solve.
And then they made it personal.
Every salon that turned women away. Every stylist who "didn't do that kind of hair." Every product that failed and somehow left her questioning herself. The message accumulated: your hair is too much. You are too much. Something about you is the problem.
Nothing about you was the problem. Your hair was never the problem.
Your hair was under-served by people who chose not to learn. Your edges weren't fragile — they were being damaged by techniques built for a different biology. The dryness, the breakage, the years of feeling like you were fighting your own hair: that was the industry failing you. Not your hair failing you. Never.

Your hair has been telling you the truth the whole time.
Every signal your scalp sends — dryness at the follicle, breakage at the line, density that's shifted over years — is biological data your hair has been trying to communicate. Not a flaw. Not a failure. A clue. The difference between someone who knows textured hair and someone who doesn't is knowing how to read those clues. The beauty industry never learned how. The people who built et cetera beauty have spent their careers doing nothing else.
No more waiting for a seat at the table.
et cetera beauty was founded by Daria Wright: Emmy Award-winning hairstylist, licensed cosmetologist, and cosmetic formulation developer. Built from the ground up around the real biology of textured hair — the scalp, the follicle, the full spectrum of what textured hair actually does and needs.
And we're going further than the jar.
Every brand before this one has put things on your hair. Serums. Oils. Coatings. The entire industry has operated from the outside in — because that's all anyone ever built. We're building something different. Something that works at the level where growth actually lives — from the inside. We're not ready to say everything yet. But the women in our Inner Circle will be the first to know.
The cover-up era is over. The biology era — all of it, inside and out — starts here.

Be first inside what's coming.
Join the et cetera beauty Inner Circle. First access to what we're building — including what's next, which goes somewhere this industry has never gone.
Not sure where to start?
Your first step is knowing your Scalp Type. Most haircare tells you to think about your curl pattern. We start with your scalp — because that's where every signal originates, and where every real solution has to begin.
